The New Ford Explorer Offers Several Options for Powerful Engines

The new Ford Explorer comes with several engine options, so you can choose what kind of power you need based on your lifestyle and your driving preferences. The Explorer comes standard with a 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 engine that delivers 290 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque; this powerful engine makes it possible to tow up to 5,000 pounds when the Explorer is properly equipped. You can also opt for the 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 on the base, XLT, and Limited models; it offers 280 horsepower, but increases torque to 310 lb.-ft, and increases fuel efficiency. Some drivers may opt for the twin-turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost® V6, which delivers an impressive 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. This option is only available on the range-topping Sport and Platinum models.

The New Ford Explorer Sport model comes standard with the twin-turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost® V6, and is the most powerful engine choice offered. Sport models also come standard with all-wheel drive, a sport-tuned suspension, and a Class III towing package. Hill descent control and a terrain management system are also standard, so you'll be able to take on steep inclines and rougher terrain with ease. The Sport model also offers niceties like a 3rd-row PowerFold® 50/50 split-folding bench seat, leather trimmed seats with heat (front seats), a Voice-Activated Navigation System, a Sony premium audio system, and so much more.
